Follicle tracking
Follicle tracking involves a series of ultrasound scans, usually starting on day 12 of your cycle. These scans allow us to watch the follicle (which contains the egg) as it develops in your ovary.
These scans are performed using a small plastic probe which is inserted in the vagina. The process is usually painless. This method is used because it is the only way of getting a clear image of the womb and ovaries.
The number of developing follicles and their size are measured and charted and ovulation is noted if it occurs.
Follicle tracking is usually performed to measure the response to the drugs used to stimulate ovulation.
