Endometriosis
Endometriosis
This is a condition where tissue that is similar to the lining of the womb grows and develops in the wrong place. In some cases it will grow on or within the ovaries; in others it will grow in the abdominal cavity. It can sometimes cause infertility by damaging the fallopian tubes or by interfering with ovulation. It is thought that endometriosis only has a significant effect on fertility if it is very severe. More information about damaged fallopian tubes is available on the Blocked or Damaged Fallopian Tubes page.
Treatment Options
There are several options ranging from drug treatment to surgical procedures to remove the tissue. These options vary depending on the severity of the condition and are fully discussed in detail with our patients by their doctor.
